Week Two News From Patti’s
Greetings Patti’s Families,
What a great first week we had at Patti’s!
We were excited to welcome all our new & returning families, as well our wonderful new teacher, Rosie. Teacher Rosie brings a wealth of experience and joyous energy with her, and Michelle and I are very happy she has joined our Patti’s family! The children love all the games she invents on the playground, and her songs and stories in the classroom.
There was so much excitement and exploration this first week and of course a few tears. We are pleased to say that most children settle quickly once in the classroom.
If you have any concerns, please make sure you have filled out the separation anxiety survey sent last week and of course feel free to contact me by email or speak to me at pick up.
Please help us identify your belongings
Please make sure all backpacks and lunch boxes have name labels inside or outside.
Please label all spare or removable clothing (sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, hats, etc.)
Our mornings are busy and sometimes the children, or the teachers, forget which coat or hat they came in. Children also often have very similar outerwear, so the labels really help.
Reminder: Parking and drop-off – change to lot and procedure
Starting on Monday, 9/13, Patti’s will be using the Eastside parking lot of the Emmanuel Church campus. The parking lot is accessed from SE 44th St. We have placed Patti’s signs at the corner of 86th Ave SE and SE 44th St. as well as at the parking lot entrance on SE 44th St. Please enter the parking lot, drive past the ramp with the blue railings, park and bring your child down that ramp to meet their teachers.
We are happy to say this change means we no longer need the hand washing station.
Teachers will be outside to start the day at 8:55. We will do a temperature check, then escort groups of children into the building to wash hands in the bathroom (which they are accustomed to doing during the school day) and then go into the classroom. If you arrive after 9:10 please call the classroom or walk around the building to the window and a teacher will come out to greet your child and bring them to the classroom.
If your child will be absent, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the classroom phone, (206) 232-4453, so the teachers know not to wait for your child.
The new procedures should shorten the length of the drop-off process, which will also help those children with separation anxiety.
Pick-up will also be from the ramp in the Eastside parking lot.
Lunch Bunch will begin Monday 9/13/2021 from 12pm – 1pm. Students will eat lunch in the classroom with a story, play in the classroom for 25-30 minutes and then play outside for 10-15 minutes. Students bring their own lunch (please no loose nuts or baby carrots).
Patti’s supplies a simple snack for children each day. Please speak to me or contact me by email if you would like to bring a snack from home. We have severe allergies in our classroom and cannot have any dairy or nuts at snack most days. We will need to review the ingredients (including trace ingredients) of anything served at Patti’s during snack.
Please feel free to email me at email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for all your support and for letting us share time with your precious little ones.
