Greetings Patti’s Families,
We are entering our 3rd week of school and the children are settling in and getting used to our classroom routines. Many have already made friends and are happily joining in on circle time songs and dances.
We have introduced a simple “Call and Response” attention signal for our transition times. This is a quick and fun way for us to get the entire class’ attention, usually before clean-up time or when getting ready to line up. Teacher says “Everybody Stop!” and claps twice, when (most) children look up then Teacher says “Hands on Top!” and models putting hands on her head, followed by the children putting their hands on their own heads. We then let them know what we are getting ready to do. It takes time to learn any new routine, but some children already have it down pat and more are getting it each day as they see their friends join in. If you have a chance to practice this at home it will help them recognise it more quickly.
We are continuing our transportation theme and hope you have enjoyed their artwork. Please check the rope on the wall at the bottom of the ramp when picking up your child, as we usually have it ready for you to pick up. You will also find any backpacks against the wall there at the end of the day. I have attached a picture for reference.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us, we look forward to another great week at Patti’s!
